Mykvare AS is a software company with developers in Trondheim and Alta, Norway. We build web apps and mobile apps for businesses and organisations.
Emil has been developing software for eight years. Most of that time has gone into products in the world of sports, on systems with heavy traffic and strict performance demands. He has experience with app development, backend development and digital infrastructure. He has built up teams as a team lead, and has also worked as a tech lead and architect.
Jørgen has worked professionally as a developer for six years. Over those years he has been a mobile tech lead and a developer on several teams, working on both frontend and backend. He knows AI and agentic development well, and has spent a lot of time automating internal processes. He has a soft spot for mobile as a platform and for functional programming.
Mykvare is the word software translated straight into Norwegian: myk means soft and vare means ware. Our slogan, programvare som varer, means software that lasts, and plays on the same word. It describes what we try to build. A system should still be easy to understand and change after many years in production, also for developers who were not there when it was built.
One codebase for iPhone and Android. Google uses it in its own apps, and it has been in production since 2018.
Elixir runs on Erlang's virtual machine, which Ericsson built for telephone exchanges that were not allowed to stop. That heritage suits systems that need to run for a long time.
Simple programs that compile to a single executable file. This website is one such program, with its text, styles and font built in.
